With less than 12 months to live, Jesus heads northeast from Beth-Tsur towards the coast and then back to Jerusalem for Pentecost. His explosive denunciation of Pharisaical attitudes in his litany of woes provokes the ‘necessity’ of his death. He had to be cautious in his choice of routes back to the northeast.
Thursday, May 3,29 AD. Valtorta 3.405. At night they walked 12 miles southeast of Yoppa to Nicodemus’ estate. A peasant tells Jesus that Nicodemus had ordered his workers to leave plenty of grain for the gleaners which was why there were so many uncut stalks of grain. She chats to him about the Rabbi of Nazareth. She lets slip that they all know that Nicodemus secretly believes in him as does his friend Joseph.
Nicodemus asks Jesus to bless the land, crops, and those present.
Jesus told the parable of the two sons. Mt 21. He explains those who rebel against the will of God are not holy even if they appear to be. Those are holy who do what the Father wants.
Friday, May 4, 29 AD. Valtorta 3.406. They then went on to Joseph’s estate which is nearer the sea than his one at Arimathea. He arrives after a miracle that saw Joseph give away more sheaves of wheat than his estate could have grown.
Jesus talks about faith and says that those who have faith are holy. He tells them he is the Christ and cures those who are ill and infirm.
Saturday, May 5, 29 AD. Valtorta 3.407. Jesus advises a Pharisee who is considering breaking up his marriage. Jesus tells him the real problem is not his wife but himself, his disorderly lust and jealousy.
He must repair the ruin he caused, seek her forgiveness, and deny his lust for at least a month and the nightmare will end. Her forgiveness will be given if she invokes it for you.
Sunday, May 6. Valtorta 3.408. They left for Jerusalem for Pentecost. As usual, Judas instigates an argument by referring to Andrew and John as nonentities. Peter orders him to the back of the group and restores order.
The apostles are tired, and discuss worries about Judas who says they long for comfort but are looking forward to a life of discomfort and even persecution.
Valtorta 3.409. En route to Jerusalem Jesus and the apostles help an elderly woman gather the gleanings of wheat. She blesses him and his mother and asks for their names. He says Jesus and Mary. She remembers her grandson and son who died at Herod’s massacre. Jesus promises her eternal life
Valtorta 3.410. Nearer to Jerusalem they pass through a valley. A dispute arises over the relative beauty of a tiny flower and a majestic one. Thomas the goldsmith is ecstatic about the little one, but Judas is rude and sarcastic about his taste.
Jesus says the little flower reminds him of his mother in its smallness and humility
Tuesday. May 8. Valtorta 3.411. They arrive at Jerusalem. After washing Jesus goes to the Temple. Crowds gather to hear Jesus debate with hostile Pharisees. Jesus declares he is the Word of God.
Valtorta 3.412. He is invited to dine with Helkai, an extremely puritanical Pharisee. At the meal the guests quiz Jesus, and demand proof of him being the Messiah. Jesus points to the prophecies of his death and says it is permissible to doubt him until his resurrection whereupon Jesus is called a blasphemer.
He is advised to be careful as they will have to judge him. Jesus responds, not so, and talks of God’s judgment on Lucifer and Adam. He says that he and his mother are the only ones preserved from original sin.
They provoke Jesus’ condemnation of mistaken religious priorities. Lk 39. Jesus explodes with the litany of woes on them. Jesus walks out
Helkai outlines how he will entrap Judas to betray Jesus with promises of money after which Judas will be killed to prevent him from talking. The prospect of Jesus having to be killed was raised for the first time.
Jesus and the apostles stop by at Bethany where Jesus tells Martha and Mary that his visit to Helkai’s house took more out of him than a long journey. He explained that he went because not to go would have been taken as an insult to a member of the Sanhedrin. He adds that their hatred of him has reached full measure. There can be no truce.
Martha instinctively goes to stroke his cheek, stops, blushing and says forgive me for loving you like a suffering brother. Lazarus’ illness was worsening and he was emaciated and yellowish. He does not ask to be healed but offers Jesus his life He says he is pleased to suffer as he now knows why and what it can achieve.
Jesus says he has to go as his enemies will be searching for him at his known places of refuge. Lazarus suggested he go to Antioch where he sent John of Endor and Syntheche but Jesus said that they were to be saved but he was to stay in Israel where the altar is.
Jesus then left Jerusalem heading south into the mountains of Judea.
Sometimes Jesus comments on some Maria Valtorta’s queries, her ‘whys.’
Why did Jesus keep trying to save Judas when he knew he would fail? There was a flower in Judas’ barren heart. After his death, Jesus instructed John to tell the others that infinite tact is essential to redeem people.
This completes the summary of Volume 3 of the Poem of the Man-God.
Volume 4 deals with some 124 reports of Jesus’s activities to the end of year 29 AD.
May 9 -18, 29 AD. Valtorta 4.414. In the aftermath of his denunciation of the Pharisees, Jesus decided to stay out of reach. He preached by day in the region between the Dead Sea and Bethlehem and in Tequa to the west. They walked at night and kept off the main roads, often using shortcuts.
One day on a deserted road he met and cured a Samaritan beggar who had decided on the evidence of others that Jesus was the Son of God. He had been seriously maimed by those who professed righteousness.
Tuesday May 15, 29 AD. Valtorta 4.415. Jesus enters Jericho on a busy market day. Valtorta described Zacchaeus quizzing a former leper who had lost his wife and two sons to leprosy. The former leper said he had heard from a man who was cured after calling to Jesus, Son of God heal me and was cured, not only of his disease, but his soul as well. Jesus commented not to do evil simply avoids hell, to enjoy Paradise one must do good.
Later Jesus comes into the town and dines with Zachaeus as in Lk 19.
Jesus commented on this vision: He said there is good and bad yeast. Bad yeast ferments faster than good yeast because it finds more suitable matter in which to grow than good yeast. Jesus says this matter is in the heart, thought, and flesh of man and therefore is contrary to the will of God.
Jesus explains that the phrase to the glory of God does not increase God’s glory but that in glorifying God we are marked with the sign of God’s glory, which gives glory to Glory.
He explains that the will of God is never selfish but takes account of the entire universe and when he inspires, advises, or orders a thought or an action it is aimed at our welfare. The yeast of God grows through difficulties and hardship.
Jesus says his reference to bringing war was a war against everything and everyone to defend the Will of God and his law. He says that most men lack the will of Good and that good becomes sterile.
Jesus says that the secret of success is love, a little love means a little success.
Reverting to Zacchaeus Jesus says he was not dining with a sinner but with a redeemed soul. He does dine with sinners to take them out of sin. Zacchaeus had discovered the power of upright intention that excites desire. Such desire urges deeper and deeper knowledge of Good and a longing for God till God is reached. He asks when that happens can a soul find more attraction to the earthly things?
They leave Jericho and cross the Jordan.
Thursday, May 17, 29 AD. They arrive at Solomon’s village at 2am. When Judas complains Jesus says I’m not compelling you to stay. Jesus cures Joseph who was dying from an injury which he offers up like his father who (I think) was also Joseph, the shepherd witness killed in the massacre at Bethlehem.
May 18-30, 29 AD. Valtorta 4.417. Late May 29 AD. Jesus and his companions go north along the east bank of the Jordan.
He heals a dying boy, the third child of a widow who already lost two boys to this disease. He heals a totally deaf and dumb man and gets on a beached boat from which he talks of the love of mothers and demands love for the mothers of deformed children and criminals. He talks of the suffering of his mother and the mother of his betrayer when that time comes.
Valtorta 4.418. A possessed and frightening madman confronts Jesus. The demon in the man is terrified of Jesus, and threatens to kill him but complains that he can’t, he wants to curse Jesus but he can’t. He pleads with Jesus not to send him back to hell, declares his hatred for Jesus because he ‘is hatred’ and wants to kill Jesus but will have to wait but swears he will see Jesus dead in that ‘delightful hour.’
The man is jumping, left and right but does not seem to be able to escape, throws himself on the ground, and is so terrifying that the onlookers stay about 30 yards behind Jesus who simply stares at him.
Jesus asks the demon’s name. The reply is chilling ‘I am Beelzebub, master of the world’ and says, ’I defy you, O Christ.’
Beelzebub pleads not to be sent back to hell and promises to torture Jesus himself and his followers. Finally, Jesus commands Beelzebub to depart from the man and restores him to his mother.
The ever-present Pharisees declare Jesus is the master of demons. He deals with the accusation that he healed through satanical powers. Lk 12.
Later Jesus explains that the man was possessed by a complete spirit and goes on to say that Satan enters into people through capital offences which always includes sensuality to which is added money and pride.
He ordered his disciples to be masters of their flesh. He referred to Satan as being sevenfold, prompting Judas Iscariot to refer to Mary Magdalen’s seven devils. Jesus pointed out she was delivered of them because she wanted to be rid of them, willpower is everything.
Jesus says that the perfection of a woman in loving became Satan’s instrument to dominate men and women and spread evil. He added that women who want to be of God become angels and those who don’t become demons.
Jesus tells how the tears of The Woman would cancel the sin of Eve. That woman will cancel the three-fold sin of Eve by her obedience, purity, and humility.
Someone suggests that he is referring to his mother. He responds: great is the one who does the will of God.
Jesus’ sense of imminent doom increases.
